Building-focused nonprofit to statewide leader

For over a decade, Build It Green had been known for greening individual homes across California. As the housing crisis deepened, their vision expanded. They adopted a holistic approach that builds capacity across the housing sector to create housing systems unique and inclusive to each community. Their brand needed to evolve with them to inspire new partners, communities, and programs to work together to make their regenerative vision for California a reality.

A brand to build belonging

Together, Resource Media and Build It Green co-created a brand narrative that lifted up their values of collaboration, interconnectedness, and community resilience. Throughout our partnership, we identified communication gaps, reimagined their brand positioning, values, vision, mission, and visual identity, created social media plans, newsletters, and other marketing content to grow their network of greenbuilders and changemakers. Additionally, we trained staff on social, digital, and strategic planning to strengthen their internal communications capacity. Resource Media continued serving as BIG’s thought partner, helping to position them as a leader in the regenerative and sustainable green building space across California.

The new identity came alive in a reimagined website design, developed in partnership with Floodlight Design. With concise, accessible language and interactive features, the website spotlights community programs and partners, showcases the breadth of their impact, and makes it easy to connect.

It is opening new doors to collaborations and positioning the organization as a trusted partner in the movement for regenerative communities.
