Elizabeth Lunney is an accomplished nonprofit and community leader, with deep roots in the outdoors and conservation sectors, where she has spent more than 30 years making nonprofits stronger. She builds board leadership, expands fundraising capacity, strengthens financial management, and develops mission-focused programs. She’s happiest when she sees organizations being creative and inclusive in defining the role of community in their work.
Elizabeth served as executive director at Washington Trails Association for more than a decade, helping the organization leverage what was then a fledgling volunteer program and a little-known web site. She helped establish a major gifts program, hired staff to advocate at the state and federal level, and brought on field staff to expand the organization’s presence statewide.
Since then, she has served as interim executive for more than a dozen local, regional, and national organizations, including BirdNote, Good Cheer (Whidbey Island), Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, and the Vashon Maury Island Land Trust.
When she’s not having to sit still for a meeting, you’ll find her running around outside: beaches, mountains, or desert. Wherever the wind blows.
