Who are we?
Resource Media is a non-profit communications firm with staff in 14 locations across North America. Our mission is to develop and implement communications strategies to build power for sustainable and equitable social change. We highly value an equitable and inclusive workplace. Resource Media has made a public commitment to engaging the skills and leadership of people of color, LGBTQ persons, and other individuals from diverse backgrounds.
The Board of Directors is a community of diverse practitioners within multiple professional spaces who have come together in avid support of Resource Media. We each bring a fierce commitment to equity and justice and a collective shared humility in our approach to meeting our board responsibilities. Our breadth of career backgrounds and depth of lived experiences provide a unique leadership and agile partnership as board members at Resource Media.
What do we do?
Our board work typically spans the areas of meeting organizational mission, seeking strategic alignment, ensuring financial planning and accountability, and centering diversity, equity, inclusion and justice throughout all of our and the organization’s work. Resource Media’s commitment to equity and social justice attracts individuals who envision the world operating differently than it does now and choose to spend time tackling ways to meet that vision. That vision is part of what inspires board members to volunteer their time and serve the organization. Participating in cutting edge justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) work learning and struggling alongside other board members helps to provide models and practices that can be employed outside of a singular organization. How do I apply?
We’re looking for a few dedicated individuals to support our mission by joining our board of directors. We are seeking individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Finance, Legal, Nonprofit Management, Nonprofit Governance, Technology, Communications, Digital Marketing and Corporate Philanthropy. We value and desire a candidate who: has personal lived experience at the intersection of our project areas and within the communities we serve; has non-profit experience disrupting, reimagining and de-colonizing governance, systems and structures; is a creative business visionary, with experience pushing the envelope within our niche of communications.
We aspire to always be a Board that is a community of diverse practitioners within multiple professional spaces and who carry with us a depth of lived experiences alongside an array of individual identities to provide unique leadership and agile partnership as board members at Resource Media. Our board work typically spans the areas of meeting organizational mission, seeking strategic alignment, ensuring financial planning and accountability, and centering diversity, equity, inclusion and justice throughout all of our and the organization’s work.
We believe that authentic, genuine community engagement is core to advancing equity and justice and transforming systems.
