Defending a Historic Way of Life

Energy companies want to build a 100 mile-road to the remote Arctic site of Umiat to drill for speculative oil and gas resources.  Inupiat (Eskimo) leaders are appealing to Alaska citizens and elected leaders to stop the road, which would slice into the heart of calving grounds for caribou that have sustained the Inupiat subsistence way of life for generations.
