The Green Slime of Summer

Summer in the Midwest is time to head for the lake. But many lakes are closed this summer due to toxic blue green algae, which can make people sick and even kill pets. The algae is spurred by farm runoff from chemical fertilizers and manure, and peaks in late summer. Conservationists and farmers are working together to protect water quality, and Resource Media is raising awareness about the problem and solutions via traditional and social media.
